Alice M. (Freeman) Mockler, 99, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Cheshire Regional Rehab. She had been the loving wife of the late Harold F. Mockler for 61 years.
Alice was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 9, 1922 to the late Charles and Catherine (Dental) Freeman. She graduated from Bushwick High School, Class of 1940 as "Miss Happy Go Lucky." Alice was a lifelong Brooklyn Dodgers and NY Mets fan who knew the players well into her 90s.
Alice worked as a banker for most of her career and retired as the Senior Vice President from Fidelity Savings and Loan Association. She lived in Valley Stream, Long Island for 45 years with her husband, Harold, where they made many lasting friendships. Upon moving to Connecticut, Alice joined the Plantsville Congregational Church and was an active member for many years. Alice created strong friendships within the Spring Lake Village Community and enjoyed lunches, trips and most of all, playing Mahjong.
Alice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Joan Mockler of Southington and 4 grandchildren, Christian Anton and his wife Emily of Southington, Jacob Mockler of Wallingford, Emily Mockler of Cambridge, MA and Scott Mockler of Southington. She is also survived by several nephews, nieces, and cousins with whom she kept connected all her life. In addition to her husband Harold, Alice was predeceased by her sister, Helen Kramer.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice's memory may be made to the Plantsville Congregational Church, 109 Church St, Plantsville, CT 06479.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Plantsville Congregational Church, 109 Church St, Plantsville. Burial will be held privately in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
