Mrs. Alice Alcea (Dillon) Fager, 86, of Southington, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday July 21, 2011 at the Orchards in Southington. She was the loving wife of the late Harry Fager Sr. for 58 years.
She was born on October 30, 1924 in Naugatuck to the late John J. and Alice (Hickey) Dillon and had been a longtime Southington resident.
Alice was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Waterbury, CT. Following graduation from St. Mary's, she studied surgical nursing. She worked in the 'Operating Room' at Flower- Fifth Ave. Hospital in NYC, was a charge nurse in the emergency room (nights) at Yale New Haven Hospital, a head nurse and supervisor at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, NC, a substitute school nurse in the Southington School System and did private duty for Bradley Barnes. She volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Bank, was a member of St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, a member of St. Aloysius Ladies Guild and a member of the Calendar House. She was an avid New York Yankee fan and loved the UConn Women's basketball team.
Alice is survived by her 2 sons: Harry Fager Jr. of Sarasota, FL and Jack Fager of Plantsville, her daughter Terry Pigeon and her husband Tom also of Plantsville and 5 grandchildren; Mallory of Wallingford, Abbey of Charlotte, NC, Mitchell of Boston Mass., Betheny of Plantsville and Michael of Plantsville.
