Alice (Thompson) Boyce, 92, of Southington died Monday October 4, 2010 at Southington Care Center. She was the wife of the late William F. Boyce for 57 years.
Born on July 23, 1918 to the late Graham R. and Mabel (Lewis) Thompson, she was a lifelong Plantsville and Southington resident.
Mrs. Boyce graduated from Lewis High School. She worked as a telephone operator at the former Southern New England Telephone Company. She was also a long-time manager of the Southington High School Cafeteria, a volunteer at Bradley Memorial Hospital and an active member at the First Baptist Church, Southington. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship Group at the Plantsville Baptist Church and of the Ladies Aid Society, a Girl Scout Leader, and a Red Cross Blood Bank Volunteer.
She is survived by 4 children: Gordon W. Boyce and his wife Debra of Belchertown, MA, Barbara Barlow and her husband Robert of Stamford, VT, Sharon E. Boyce of Southington, and Laura Marenholz and her husband Sterling, 'Tud', of Hamden; 6 grandchildren: James W. Barlow and wife Jennifer, Sarah Wu and husband Dr. Ernest Wu, Todd Marenholz and wife Nelly, Heidi Grantz and husband Eric, Mark Marenholz, and Sarah Boyce; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday October 7, 2010 at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church, 581 Meriden Ave., Southington. Burial will follow in Quinnipiac Cemetery, Marion Ave., Plantsville. Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville is handling the arrangements.
