Alfred "Buzzy" H. Bussett, 87, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at HCC in New Britain. He had been the loving husband of Ruth Ann (McNerney) Bussett for 64 years.
Born on October 21, 1927 in New Haven to the late Alfred H. and Julia M. (O'Connor) Bussett, he had been a longtime Plantsville resident.
Al's pride and joy was his family, with whom he was always willing to share his love of boating and fishing. "Papa" had an extraordinary connection with children, handing out "report card" money and candy wherever he went.
Mr. Bussett proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was well-known in town, first as owner of Bussett Electric and then as the Southington electrical inspector for many years. Al has always been active in community service. A former Connecticut State Vice-President of the JC's, he was a recipient of their "Distinguished Service Award." He has also been an active member of the Southington Lion's Club for many years. Known by many as "Mr. Perfect," Buzz will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife Ruth Ann, he is survived by six children: Michael (Beth) Bussett, Katie (Mike) Smith, Patty (Jon) Petrichenko, Sandy (Rick) Buzanoski, Tom (Nicole) Bussett, and Greg Bussett; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Brooks, sister-in-law, Rosemary McNerney and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Bussett.
