Alan C. Griffin, "The Ol' Ranger and his faithful dog Colt," 69, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury after a short illness. He had been the loving husband of Leslie (Turek) Griffin for 28 years.
Born November 9, 1946 in Waterbury to the late James and Mary (Lucid) Griffin, he had been a longtime Plantsville resident.
Alan was a Crosby High School graduate and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from the former New Haven College where he was a member of their golf team. Alan was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Waterbury and Southington. He was active with the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years and was a past Grand Knight, past Faithful Navigator, past 4th Degree District Deputy and belonged to the Color Guard.
In addition to his wife Leslie, he is survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws: Linda and Doug Magrath of Berlin, Diane and Steve Sesko of Southington, John and Caroline Turek of Plantsville, many nephews, his niece and his loyal service dog Colt. He was predeceased by his baby brother, Donny John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the service from 9 - 10:00 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
