Arnold proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 during his first tour of duty. He was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division Headquarters Co. at Fort Knox, KY and became a tank driver. In addition, he was a member of the 3rd Armored Division honor guard, which performed at various locations in the United States and Germany. On his second tour of duty from 1961 to 1962, he was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he was assigned to the 197th Field Artillery Division, a support unit for the 82nd Airborne Division. After his honorable discharge, he held engineering positions at various electronic firms and then retired from Data Products New England. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing; watching the NFL, UConn basketball, NASCAR; and attending sports car racing events at Lime Rock Park. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and will always be remembered for being a loving and supportive father and grandfather. He would regularly attend his grandchildren’s sporting and school events. In addition to his wife, Arn is survived by two sons, Rob Badorek and his wife Denise of Durham, and Jim Badorek and his wife Heidi of Granby; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Lauren Badorek of Granby; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edmund Badorek. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arn’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. Hello Lorraine, I am very sorry for the loss of your husband. If you are who I think you are, you and I were roommates in the Meriden Hospital, January, 1963 when our sons were born. My name then was Avis Thielman. I am now Avis Robin and I live in Berlin. Know that I am thinking of you.
